Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Geologist at our Cortez operations. The successful candidate will lead a team of geologists responsible for optimizing the extraction of ore reserves through ensuring proper data collection including mapping, sampling, routing, and tracking of material underground, in addition to supporting the 3-d geologic model and designing and executing infill drill programs.At Nevada Gold Mines, our vision is to be the world's most valued gold mining business by finding, developing, and operating the best assets with the best people. Ensure development plans are established and maintained for all direct reports.Drive zero harm workplace through visible felt leadership, stop work authority, and other safety programs in place.Build and maintain collaborative internal relationships with key departments (Engineering, Operations, Process, Environment, Growth, Exploration, Safety and Finance).Build on technical knowledge for geological mapping, drilling, and logging programs. Ensure best practices are utilized, understood, and followed by the team.Monitor QA/QC practices and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and identify opportunities for improvements. Supervise training of staff members and review SOP's.Support site reconciliation through identifying and explaining variances and providing solutions to mitigate/reduce variance where possible.Engage with resource team to ensure accurate, fit for purpose mineral estimations are provided, ensuring that all available data are leveraged to maximize value in every model.Supervise and authorize the design, preparation and implementation of proposals, cost estimates and expenditure requests for production drill programs.Assist in creation of MRM budget and responsible for tracking spend and variance explanation.Support and drive integration of orebody knowledge into all parts of the business.Provide input into the yearly business plans.Monitor departmental KPI's to ensure agreed work programs, drilling, cost, and ounce delivery targets are met.Identify areas for improvement and present solutions through change managementQualifications:Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related fieldrequiredMinimum five (5) years' experience in mine geology or exploration, preferably undergroundpreferredExperience with leading technical team with strong interdepartmental communication skillsrequiredFamiliarity with Leapfrog, Deswik, Vulcan, and Acquire softwarepreferredProven ability to communicate optimally; both verbally and in writingrequiredTeam leader with the ability to work collaboratively within a coordinated and agile multidisciplinary team, regardless of reporting structurerequiredAbility to work with minimum supervisionrequiredExcellent safety record with ability to demonstrate safety leadershiprequiredWhat We Can Offer YouA comprehensive compensation package including a competitive medical, dental, and vision plan with national provider networks, a 401k retirement plan with employer contribution, paid time off, company-sponsored medical clinics, company match share purchase program, and much more!Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.Opportunities to grow and learn with the industry colleagues are endless.Access to a variety of career opportunities across the organization.Nevada Gold Mines is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
