Position Summary & Purpose: The Corporate Accounting Clerk will support the Senior Corporate Accounting Manager, and the Hotel Controller, in the accounts payable functions for a number of hotel operations and for the corporate office

Position reports to: Senior Corporate Accounting Manager/Hotel Controller/Director of Finance
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Routing of invoices, ensuring correct approvals and verifying pricing and details are accurate. Scanning and posting invoices within the relevant systems accurately and timely. Reconciling AP statements and following up with vendors for missing or incorrect invoices and credits. Preparing payments in accordance with company policies. Organizing and filing financial paperwork and documents to ensure compliance. Regular liaison with vendors, maintaining strong and professional relationships. Maintain required records, reports, and files in an organized manner. Helping other departments when needed. Perform other related duties as directed or as the situation dictates. OTHER DUTIES: Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, as established by the Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of the position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the department. SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY: The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. Ability in Spanish is a plus.
Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process. Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. Most tasks are performed in a team environment with the employee acting as a team leader. There is minimal direct supervision. Must possess good computational ability. Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Delphi. Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required. Knowledge of hotel and competitive market. Ability to analyze data and establish appropriate action plans. Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations, including, but not limited to the following statutes and their state and local analogues (where applicable): Title VII, ADEA, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, FLSA, ADA, OSHA, FMLA, and NLRA. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS Fluent in English, other languages are helpful.
EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school required and some college preferred, or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, also is acceptable.
EXPERIENCE: Must understand basic accounting principles and have a combination of education, training or experience that provides the required accounting knowledge, skills, and abilities. Experience with multi-user accounting system required, Peach Tree helpful. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality. Superior customer service skills and commitment to excellence. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent telephone manner and communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as a team member. Experience with 10-key and computers required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
