Job Description
A growing client in the manufacturing industry is looking to bring a Corporate Accountant onto their team in Brentwood, TN! This role would provide the opportunity to work closely with the Accounting Manager and Director of Finance to build out processes and be a part of an organization acquiring businesses rapidly. Corporate Accountant Responsibilities: Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recordedPerform complex reconciliationsAssist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelinesAssist with reviewing and data mining of balance sheet and profit and loss accounts as assignedPrepare procedure and policy documentationReview policies and procedure documentation prepared by less senior accounts for accuracy and completeness; review and update these same documents regularly to ensure they are up to date regarding personnel, systems and internal controls; work closely with Accounting Manager to ensure timely review and updating of the documents on a scheduled basisUpdate financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when neededPrepare and submit complex weekly/monthly reports including but not limited to detailed monthly actual to budget variance reportsAnalyze reports and reconciliations to determine source of errors and trend analysisParticipate in the development and detailed review of annual operating budgets and performance projectionsFiling and remitting taxes and other financial obligationsTrain and mentor other less senior accountantsAssist with internal and external auditsAssist in the preparation of monthly/yearly closingsAssist with accounting projectsCollaborate and communicate with all other members of the organization in a positive and productive mannerWork closely with the Accounting Manager and Controller to administer procedures and policies and act as the lead for other accounting representativesAct as point of contact in the absence of the Controller and Accounting ManagerCollaborate with the A/P and A/R managers to integrate policies, procedures and process improvement initiativesCorporate Accountant Requirements:Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is preferredBachelor's degree in economics, business or related field of study3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience requiredKnowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Well versed with the ability to interpret Federal, State and local laws related to taxation, income recognition and compliance applicable to the industryDemonstrates strong technical accounting skillsWorks well independently and has adept organization and time management skillsCollaborates with colleagues and has excellent communication skillsHighly detail-oriented and organizedAbility to meet a constant stream of deadlinesProven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employeesSuperior analytical and problem-solving skillsInitiated and implemented process improvements to drive the success and efficiency of the business
