Job Summary The student support services coordinator is responsible for providing students consistent and ongoing academic monitoring and mentoring. This position holds a primary focus on student success, mentoring, and retention.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators The intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Job Responsibilities and Execution Maintains current knowledge of structure, policies, and processes to provide guidance to students Collaborates with student services departments to assist students with academic support Teaches Academic Commitment to Excellence course Conducts Student Success Workshops Utilizes the retention management system for student communication and early intervention Researches and applies useful solutions to support student-learning, studying, testing, and organization Collects and maintains data for reporting purposes Plans and organizes success-mentoring meetings with appropriate mentoring personnel Maintains orderly records and mentoring notes Engages in both proactive and reactive outreach to students in need of academic support Assesses and monitors student performance outcomes and level of satisfaction and suggests adjustments based on results Service Excellence Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence Models, supports, and holds others accountable to the University's values Serves as the contact for students to provide academic mentoring, resource referrals, and engagement opportunities Manages and monitors students identified as at-risk Implement program and process changes based on retention and assessment data Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration Maintains appropriate confidentiality, explains, and follows all guidelines in accordance with FERPA Consults with Professional Advising, Residential Life, Student Financial Services, Business Office, faculty, staff, and other individuals involved in the student's success and integration Documents student progress and reports information as needed to parties across campus Works with Lindenwood student organizations to support engagement initiatives Develops ongoing relationships with students during their time at Lindenwood Serves as liaison between students and faculty Job may require other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.
Bachelor's degree Master's degree preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities – May be representative, but not all inclusive, of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform this job competently.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures Ability to connect with students on individual basis Ability to effectively preserve confidentiality and exercise discretion Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system, and Student Information System (SIS) Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn and use process improvement methodologies Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent customer service skills Knowledge of financial aid and FERPA guidelines Developed organizational and interpersonal skills Strong customer service, collaboration, leadership, and creativity skills Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of this job's functions.  Please click here to view Lindenwood University's flexible work designation descriptions.
