Full job description POSITION SUMMARY This position provides support to the Malley Recreation Center by managing the Volunteers of America (VOA) Seniors' Nutrition Program and performing a variety of administrative tasks. Responsible for the volunteer management and liaison with VOA nutritionist. Greets all guests that enter and provides information about VOA Lunch program and site-specific details, senior resources, programming. VOA lunch program Mon-Friday 10:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. Recreation Assistant schedule determined via current scheduling needs. Serves to support the Recreation Supervisors in the completion of duties related to the Malley Recreation Center events and excursions, processes, including but not limited to venue setup/teardown, guest services, escort and driving excursions, some data entry. Involvement in each of these duties will vary. Guest services duties will be performed while working directly with patrons to ensure a positive experience. During events, this position will serve as support to the Event team. Weekends and evenings will be required on an as-needed basis. This is a part-time, non-exempt position.

Greets and assists all people entering the dining room, with a professional and pleasant manner, provides customer service by assisting the public with accurate information, either in person or over the phone. Recruiting and supervising volunteers, covering volunteer shifts. Maintaining customer service and food handling standards. Record keeping, cash handling, programming enrichment opportunities. Effectively explains VOA Lunch Program, process VOA forms. Effectively explains all benefits of membership; give facility tours. Manage phone calls and emails Processes class registrations following correct cash handling procedures. Processes a variety of Point-of-Sale items such as special event tickets, and pro shop items. Answers questions pertaining to all facets of the Parks & Recreation areas, activities, and programs. Enforces all Center policies, rules and regulations while maintaining a friendly and professional attitude. Supervises activities to ensure staff and participant safety. Occasionally performs supervision after-hours, follows building opening & closing procedures. Performs light custodial duties as needed such as spot clean up, as well routine equipment and facility sanitization. Able to work on multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. Additional duties may include but are not limited to filing, calling waiting lists, checking members off on trip lists, assistance in the handling of excursion logistics. DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge: General knowledge of office practices and procedures, phone etiquette, basic filing, and strong customer service skills. Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR and AED certifications, required within a reasonable amount of time from employment.
Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers and members; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; alphabetize; spell; Operates basic, kitchen and office equipment, which includes the following: use of computer; comfortable with basic software such as Microsoft Office and RecTrac. Occasional use of a copier/fax machine. Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs.). Physical capabilities involve sitting, standing, crouching, kneeling, and walking for extended periods of time, use of a telephone.
Driving Requirements : This position requires occasional operation of a City motor vehicle / van to various City facilities and excursions. Must possess a valid Driver License or can obtain upon hire and maintain an acceptable driving record.
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: Previous work-related training and experience or guest service equivalent training and experience specifically with cash handling. Experience working with an older population and resource management.


HOURLY RANGE $16.00 - $18.00/Hourly
