FLSA Status: Exempt GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Professional Learning, the Coordinator of Professional Learning is responsible for the planning, development, coordination, facilitation, and monitoring of professional learning programs for all employees of Stafford County Public Schools ("Stafford Schools"). The Coordinator of Professional Learning collaborates with and advises all division stakeholders regarding the design and delivery of staff development programs, establishes learning objectives and assesses the impact of professional learning, and contributes to projects across the Office of Human Resources and Talent Development ("HRTD") to achieve the outcomes of the Stafford Schools Strategic Plan.
FOCUS AREA - NEW TEACHER SUPPORT
The Coordinator of Professional Learning plays a pivotal role in the onboarding and support of new educators within the division. This position is responsible for guiding, mentoring, and providing resources to mentors and newly hired teachers to ensure their successful integration into the school community and effective classroom practice. The coordinator collaborates closely with school administration, instructional leaders, and veteran teachers to facilitate a comprehensive support system for novice educators. MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Contributes to divisionwide systemic process of professional learning Supports school and division improvement priorities through development of professional learning opportunities for teachers, leaders, and support staff Collaborates with all stakeholders to identify professional needs and coordinates professional learning opportunities. Assesses the impact of professional learning opportunities, including course evaluations and systems for monitoring effective implementation and needed follow-up support Maintains and monitors the division wide learning management system for planning, managing, delivering and tracking of professional development opportunities for all staff Establishes learning objectives and goals for staff development sessions and develops training outlines and timelines Contributes to the short term and long term planning for systemic professional learning Leads new teacher induction and mentorship programs Coordinates the Mentor 360 new teacher induction program, including project-related supervision of Mentor 360 Ambassadors, to ensure effective mentor matching and mentor/mentee development for new licensed hires and long-term substitutes. Collaborates with other stakeholders to design ,facilitate and evaluate the new teacher induction week, with a focus on instructional training, orientation/onboarding, professional responsibilities, and building connections within and across building staff. Collaborates with regional partners to create networks of support and innovation for mentoring. Supports and demonstrates core values of Stafford Schools Engages in ongoing professional development relevant to position. Responds promptly and thoroughly to written and oral requests for information. Maintains a clean, neat appearance, appropriate to position. Maintains a record of appropriate attendance and punctuality. Serves as a role model for students, colleagues, and the general public. Works in close harmony with colleagues, supervisors, and co-workers. Complies with all division policies and regulations, including but not limited to guidelines for confidentiality. Performs other related duties as required/assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Valid Professional License issued by the Virginia Department of Education required. Five (5) years of experience in a licensed position. Experience with digital communication strongly preferred Experience with, mentorship, and leading professional development required. Knowledge Strong instructional design and implementation practices Effective data collection and management practices; data analysis skills strongly preferred Skills Planning, presentations, public relations, and organization required Abilities Works cooperatively in a team environment to meet goals Organizes and performs work independently Meets deadlines for all work even when working on multiple projects Shows sustained effort and enthusiasm in quality and quantity of work Serves as a passionate advocate for Stafford Schools to attract new educators Translates personal experience and professional success into concrete tools that can help new staff members and supervisors WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work environment is inside, with moderate noise, temperatures that are controlled, and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements. The work is light work, requiring exertion of up to 20 pounds of force to move or lift objects. The following physical and mental abilities are representative of those expected to complete the essential functions of the job: standing for prolonged periods; sitting for prolonged periods; moving the hands, wrists, or fingers repetitively; moving with force on the back or lower body repetitively; feeling, grasping, or holding objects by hand; identifying colors visually; identifying objects in low light or distant conditions; communicating via spoken language; communicating via written language; perceiving sounds; making decisions using logic and rational thinking.
