This position is open only for current University of Mississippi employees. Position Description The Coordinator of Freshman Mathematics is the contact person for walk-in visitors, email, and phone calls related to freshman mathematics courses. Typical inquiries include explanations/complaints from students/parents about courses, teacher's performance, course policies, departmental policies, university policies, etc; questions from other entities on campus regarding math courses, policies, prerequisites, etc.; questions about transfer equivalencies.
The Coordinator will be expected to teach three courses per semester in fall and spring .
Examples of Work Performed Scheduling teaching assignments for support faculty and graduate instructors for 100-level and most 200-level courses for fall and spring; scheduling teaching assignments for all summer and intersession courses
Entering department course schedules during Event Planning
Adding students to classes who are unable to add themselves (need booking approvals, class capacity needs changing, international exchange students, overrides needed, conditional bookings, etc.)
Monitoring enrollment numbers in math courses, particularly during orientations
Evaluating transfer equivalencies for freshman level math courses
Submitting course materials for freshman level courses
Scheduling (and participating in) observations of graduate instructors' teaching each semester
Keeping gradebook records for support faculty, graduate instructors, visiting professors, and those leaving the University
Sending out reminders about University deadlines/policies
Facilitating conversations between Title IX and The Violence Prevention Center and instructional faculty to ensure that student needs are being met and policies followed as needed

Minimum Qualifications Must be a current University of Mississippi employee. Current employees must apply through connectU.  Candidates must have a Master's degree in Mathematics or a closely related field AND have demonstrated a record of excellence in teaching Mathematics.
