Job DescriptionWe're currently searching for a Coordinator for Student Experiences and Engagement Engineer to join our Student Engagement and Campus Life team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. In Virginia Tech's Division of Student Affairs, that's exactly what we're doing every day—guiding, nurturing, and supporting students as they learn and grow into the leaders and world-changers of today and tomorrow.Here's what you need to know about the role:1) You'll be joining the Student Engagement and Campus Life (SECL) team; a department centered on uplifting the student experience by cultivating affirming environments, promoting holistic well-being, and providing exceptional services, programs, and facilities2) You'll be responsible for the creation, implementation, and execution of events (large and small scale) with a focus on evening and weekend programs for undergraduate and graduate students in Blacksburg and Roanoke; coaching and mentoring student employees to build community and exceptional social and educational experiences for all students; engaging directly with students and colleagues across campus and town; and working closely with the marketing and communications team on brand strategy for signature SECL events.3) You'll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.4) You'll be offered a base compensation package between $42,500-47,000 and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!Required Qualifications? Bachelor's degree in hospitality and tourism management; event management; communications and public relations; outdoor recreation, etc.? Demonstrated understanding of evening planning and execution? Demonstrated understanding of the use of data and popular trend in event development? Demonstrated understanding of the role of a supervisor and mentorship in the lives of undergraduate student staff members? Demonstrated experience fostering diverse and inclusive environments and establishing positive, productive working relationships with diverse groups of constituents? Experience designing and implementing large and small-scale eventsPreferred Qualifications? Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field? Some work experience in collegiate setting, student activities, or first year programs? Demonstrated experience and skill in public relations and event communications?
