The mission of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington is to spread the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. In the faithful pursuit of that mission, the Archdiocese is seeking a Coordinator for Christian Initiation and Adult Formation. The Coordinator will assist the Secretary for Catechesis in the mission of the evangelization and catechesis so that Christ may be known, and His mystical Body, the Church, may be built up. This is a full-time role and will report to the Secretary for Catechesis.Duties and ResponsibilitiesChristian InitiationSupport and provide training for the catechumenal process in parishes.Support Parish Baptism preparation with resources and training.Adult Faith FormationSupport adult formation by providing resources and guidance in developing robust adult faith formation opportunitiesImplement the Archdiocese of Washington employee formation program, Living Catholic.Catechist FormationOversee catechist formation for volunteer catechists and elementary religion teachers.Offer training opportunities for parish and school catechists to complete the certification process.Additional Areas of ResponsibilityOversee the implementation of the annual Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion, the bi-annual Archdiocesan Catechetical Day, and the annual Pentecost Confirmation.Support the High School Religion teacher certification process.QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesCandidate must be knowledgeable of and committed to the teachings of the Catholic Church, as well as evidence a spirit of discipleship.Outstanding communication skills both orally and in writingExcellent organizational skillsOutstanding people skillsEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree required (MA preferred) in Religious Education, Theology or related field.At least two (2) years of experience in parish catechesis or evangelizationBilingual English/Spanish verbal and written skills.Advanced skills with MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPointWork EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, printers and filing cabinets.
