Role: Controls and Automation Engineer
Location: Remote but must live in the following states: TN, IN, MN, WI, IA, VA, MA
Travel : Remote with travel up to 50% to our plants in TN, IN, MN, WI, IA, VA, MA
Salary: $80-130k DOE
We are a privately owned leader in food manufacturing focusing on meat snacks, jerky, hot dogs, and packaged snacks. Due to growth and demand we are looking for an experience Controls Engineer to join our team. This role is fully remote with travel up to 50% to our plants.
Position Overview: The Controls and Automation Engineer will design and develop control systems, automation systems, and robotic systems to optimize production processes and support the development of new products. The Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and functionality of the systems while adhering to safety and good manufacturing practice requirements.
Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement advanced automation systems and robotic systems. Develop Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Support and maintain advanced control systems and automation equipment. Design and implement Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). Develop programs and algorithms to support automation. Research and evaluate new technologies to improve processes and reduce costs. Follow safety and good manufacturing practice guidelines. Keep abreast of the latest industrial automation and control technologies. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Engineering with a focus on Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Automation or Controls Engineering . 3+ years of experience in food or CPG manufacturing. Able to travel up to 50% to support manufacturing plants as needed Able to work in food production environment including refrigerated and frozen environments according to Food Safety requirements. Experience with HMI, PLC, SCADA, MES (Rockwell preferred). Proficiency in PLC programming and HMI development. Knowledge of safety and good manufacturing practices.
