This position is a hands-on job managing a four-person accounting team while assisting other departments and functions including operations and acquisitions.
Responsible for managing the accounting functions of a real estate development and investment portfolio and a growing hospitality company including hotels, event centers, entertainment venues and restaurants. This position includes managing the accounting department staff, overseeing the month-end closing process including account reconciliations and helping our consultants with tax filings, analyzing general ledgers and variances, and complying with company policies and procedures.
The selected candidate will oversee financial performance by timely reporting monthly results, recommending corrective actions, and monitoring outcomes.
Preparing the financial statements within the corporate closing schedule timeline. Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and supported by objective documentation.
Be responsible for the following (non-exhaustive); manage receivables, payables, credit, payroll, cash handling and treasury functions. Maintain segregation of duties and control procedures as required by company policy/best practices.
Monitor compliance with government regulations, and contractual agreements. On a monthly basis oversee the timely and accurate filing of sales, use and occupancy tax returns as well as any other government or other external reports or returns as necessary/appropriate.
Qualifications A candidate for this C-suite position must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide relevant examples to support his/her competency. Strong foundation of financial statement preparation and ability to read and analyze income statement and balance sheets, and well as strong attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting. Minimum 5 years' experience in accounting and financial management practices. Certified Public Accountant certification or MBA a plus. Proficiency with accounting software, word processing, and spreadsheets. Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills. Knowledge of hotel accounting, restaurant POS and other systems as well as general business systems. Job Type: Full-time. Schedule-Monday to Friday
Salary: $70,000 - $100,000 plus eligibility for vested interest for the ideal candidate.
