Full job description ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY Contract Manager ABOUT THIS POSITION Summary: This position develops, drafts, reviews and negotiates contracts and agreements for the University to ensure they adhere to University Fiscal Rules, federal and state laws. It serves as a department resource for campus employees and students to ensure contracting standards are met and that risk to the University is reduced wherever possible. This position works in close consultation with vice presidents, assistant vice presidents, deans, directors and business managers as well as faculty and staff at all levels, to provide best practice legal strategies for University-wide contracts. This position also provides legal assistance for the University under the direction of the University's Vice President of Planning and Operations. Some contract examples include purchase of products and services for supplies, equipment, and materials, leases, revenue contracts, software, and affiliation agreements, construction and sponsored programs.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.


Lead all aspects of the contracting process, which includes but is not limited to, authoring, drafting, reviewing, amending and negotiating contracts with vendors. Coordinate and develop contracting best practices with University faculty and staff to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations, and create, update, or revise such contracts as required. Make suggested changes to contract language, contract templates, and legal strategy relating thereto, to the Chief Procurement Officer and Attorney General's office.


Analyzes all requirements and provisions in contracts, including terms and conditions, to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, University Fiscal Rules and State policies and procedures.


Ensures that contracts are executed in accordance with University Fiscal Rules.


Conducts research prior to writing contracts.


Audits existing contracts and oversees contract modifications.


Mitigates common contract management risks, such as financial, legal, and security risks.


Monitors the performance of each signed contract.


Trains and collaborates with other contract professionals in higher education and state and local governments.


Responds to requests from internal departments and makes sure all contracts are drafted and executed promptly and correctly.


Develops strong working relationships with colleagues across departments and seniority levels.


Manage the administration and maintenance of the contract management system. Ensure proper maintenance of contract
documents, including signatures, payment history, record retention and timely renewals. Collaborate with the Chief Procurement


Officer and Attorney General to ensure contract compliance.


Conducts analysis of new laws, regulations and contract trends to determine potential impact to the University.


Coordinates with the finance department to ensure correct billing and collection of contractual revenues and obligations.


Ensures that contracts are in line with University goals and objectives.


Leads complex contract negotiations and manages all addendums to existing contracts.


Identifies potential improvements to existing policies.


Prepares reports on the status of contracts for management.



Minimum Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in business or a related field is required.

Three years' experience in contract preparation and management.

Has knowledge of contract law.

Demonstrates excellent written and communication skills.

Exhibits strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.

Possesses excellent persuasion, negotiation and judgment skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and under pressure to manage multiple concurrent tasks and responsibilities and to deal with changing priorities, while maintaining personal effectiveness.

Has working knowledge of financial analytics and profit and loss implications.

Possesses strong leadership skills.

Has excellent technological knowledge and abilities.
Possess knowledge of federal, state and local laws, regulations and codes. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in Higher Education

Possess a working knowledge of University and State of Colorado policies and procedures.
