Job Summary/Basic Function:The purpose of the Center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) is to collaborate with asset-rich communities to nurture sustained social change. The Community Work-Study Coordinator will facilitate the engagement of Weber State students in community work-study, America Reads tutoring, and the Utah Higher Education AmeriCorps Network (UHEAN) programs.
The Community-Work Study Coordinator will list, recruit, select, train, place, monitor, and coach America Reads (WALDO Reads) tutors who will be federal work-study eligible Weber State University students. As the program grows they will do the same for student site leaders. The coordinator will work closely with local school districts and community partners to align tutoring approached with evidence-based practice. The coordinator will approve all tutor time cards for tutors.
The Community Work-Study Coordinator will work with the Community Partnerships coordinator to identify local non-profits who are interested in hosting student interns that can be supported by federal work-study. The coordinator will support the non-profit community partners to develop position descriptions, list positions, approve hours worked, and coordinate repayment of community partner cost share.
The Community Work-Study Coordinator will serve as the primary Utah Higher Education AmeriCorps Network (UHEAN) administrator for Weber State University. The Coordinator will work closely with UHEAN to enroll, monitor, and exit eligible students. The Coordinator will work with CCEL staff and UHEAN to identify campus departments that are well suited to offer UHEAN opportunities to their students and meet with relevant liaisons in those departments to encourage participation in the program.
The Community-Work Study Coordinator is part of a collaborative team of staff, students, and faculty that reports to the Executive Director of the Center for Community Engaged Learning. The Coordinator is expected to participate and be engaged as an active member of the CCEL team, campus and surrounding communities.
This is a 9-month, 40 hour per week, salaried, benefits eligible position. The salary will be paid out over 12 months. The 9 working months begin in August and end in April of each academic year. From their start date, the selected candidate will have to work 75% of the remaining days in Fiscal Year 2024 to be eligible for salary and benefits through July. Fiscal year 2024 ends June 30, 2024. This is a grant-funded position with secured funding through April 2027. CCEL will be seeking ongoing funding during the next three years.
Required Qualifications:Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in education, social sciences, social work, or related field or the equivalent combination of education and professional experience.2 years of full-time experience (or equivalent part-time experience) working in an administrative, non-profit, project management, or student affairs role.Scheduling flexibility to accommodate attendance at occasional early mornings, late evenings and weekend programs, retreats, and conferences.
