POSITION PURPOSE Responsible for the support of quality loan origination, analysis, processing and reporting of business loans.  Prepare written analysis on new loan applications to measure financial strengths and weaknesses of borrowers and guarantors, collateral adequacy and general credit worthiness to help ensure sound, comprehensive decisions are made in the credit approval process.  Spread financial statements as needed through financial software and subsequently analyze system-generated reports for preparation of written reviews.  Provides high quality and professional service to members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES 1. Assumes responsibility for the effective performance of  the following business functions: Develop and review all pertinent credit and financial information for use by business department personnel and loan committee members in making lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans. Prepare written credit memorandums on all new loans, renewals, extension and modifications relative to financial strengths and weaknesses of borrowers, risk assessments, strength of guarantors, industry analysis, collateral and loan structures with opinions as to credit worthiness. Accompany Business Services Manager on calls to develop more information on the companies being analyzed and better assess the risks associated with the credit. Provide assistance and oversight on month end reporting Train and educate members on credit analysis and underwriting guidelines Provide assistance with annual loan reviews, ensuring that extensions of credit adhere to credit union policies Monitor self-originated and participation loan watch list credits Review and ensure all risk ratings are appropriate and updated as needed Assist in the proper structuring of loan terms and the understanding of fundamental credit principles Gather information on actual and prospective borrowers through inquiries and investigations with trade suppliers, financial institutions, appraisers, professional firms or individuals and in-house information on borrowers relative to relationship, outstanding exposure limits and profitability Partners with the Business Services Manager to improve work-flow to ensure a consistent process is in place Assist in portfolio management activities Regularly track the stages of active and pending loans Keeps on top of industry standards, measurements and best practices Other duties as assigned Compiles and submits monthly board reporting for management review 2. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective business relations with members: a.     Assists with questions and problems courteously and promptly.
b.    Obtains and conveys information as needed.
c.     Maintains the Credit Union's professional reputation.
3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with Credit Union personnel and with management: a.     Attends and participates in meetings as required.
b.    Assists, supports, and replaces Business Services personnel as needed.
c.     Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant developments.
4. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned: a.     Completes special projects as assigned.
b.    Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained
QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree preferred in business, accounting or finance and internal training curriculum or certification
Required Knowledge: Familiarity with financial statements, corporate and individual tax returns, cash flow analysis, and personal credit reports
Experience Required: Minimum of 3 years commercial credit analysis or related experience  S kills/Abilities: Analytical, creative, and problem solving abilities.
Accurate and attentive to detail
Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal
