Key Responsibilities:
Project Analysis:
Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work and project requirements. Conduct on-site visits to assess site conditions and gather relevant information. Cost Estimation:
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and other project-related expenses. Utilize construction estimating software and databases to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Bid Preparation:
Work closely with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive bids for various aspects of the project. Compile and organize all cost data into comprehensive bid proposals for submission. Collaboration:
Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other team members to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements. Participate in pre-bid meetings and post-bid discussions to address questions and concerns. Cost Management:
Monitor and update cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle to reflect any changes or variations. Provide support in value engineering to optimize costs without compromising quality. Market Research:
Stay informed about current market trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure competitiveness in bidding. Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of all estimates, bids, and related documentation. Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for project stakeholders. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience as a construction estimator, preferably in commercial construction. Proficiency in construction estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes. Excellent analytical and mathematical skills. Effective communication and negotiation skills. Preferred Skills:
Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Construction Estimator - CCE). Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other advanced technologies in construction estimation.
