Description: The Center for Oldest Ice Exploration within the College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences is seeking a COLDEX Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program Coordinator. This is a part-time (.49 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Center for Oldest Ice Exploration ( COLDEX ) at Oregon State University requires a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program Coordinator to support its mission of obtaining and analyzing Antarctic ice cores from at least 1.5 million years ago, recruiting and mentoring the next generation of polar researchers, increasing participation of underrepresented groups in polar science, and facilitating knowledge transfer within the scientific community and to external stakeholders. The DEI Program Coordinator will be responsible for working with the COLDEX Director for DEI and COLDEX Director, as well as other COLDEX staff, to implement actions that support the center's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. These actions include: 1) collecting, analyzing, and interpreting survey data from COLDEX participants, 2) producing summaries of survey results and other project activities for NSF reporting purposes, for proposals for funding agencies, and for potential scholarly communications, 3) assist in the holistic review process for applications to COLDEX programming; 4) monitor and coordinate responses to feedback from COLDEX participants; 5) managing the annual COLDEX DEI Award nomination process; and 6) making recommendations for improvements in these activities.
Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty): Typically requires Bachelor's degree in field related to program area. 3 years' experience providing administrative support to a program or office.
Requirements : A bachelor's degree in the Earth or Environmental Sciences or a related field. 2 years of experience working with research, education or diversity-related projects in Earth or Environmental Sciences or related fields. Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including familiarity with statistical software. Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. Excellent organizational skills. Familiarity with software for remote meetings and productivity, including Zoom, Google applications for shared work and scheduling software. Type: Ability to travel to conferences, workshops or meetings of up to 1 week in duration is required up to two times per year. In person work preferred; hybrid or remote work may be possible as agreed upon by the employee and supervisor.
Additional Salary Information: $52,000 - $67,000
