Position Details POSITION GOAL: To provide consistent, ongoing support for high-quality Early Literacy instruction, through a coaching model that promotes growth in all students and educators, as well as, to support the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for St. Joseph County schools in order to improve student achievement.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Possess a Masters degree (or equivalent), classroom experience, and/or administrative experience. Demonstrate successful K-5 teaching experience. Ability to facilitate professional learning and coach administrators and teachers. Possess knowledge related to state and federal laws in the area of education, specifically Early Literacy, MTSS and high-quality instruction. Possess familiarity with the Michigan state assessments and initiatives in Early Literacy at all levels. Demonstrate applied knowledge of Michigan's Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP) Demonstrate a capacity to learn quickly and share new learning with others by designing and implementing professional learning opportunities. Demonstrate the ability to plan proactively and think systemically to determine the effect of a given action on the broader system. Possess a collaborative leadership style and the ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships in order to facilitate change. Provide leadership in Early Literacy, MTSS, high-quality instructional practices that lead to improved student achievement, the alignment of curriculum, the creation of assessment tools, and the Implementation Science. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a variety of audiences. Demonstrate skills in organization and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with deadlines independently. Demonstrate personal integrity, professional ethics, and maintain confidentiality. Possess a working knowledge of computers and use of Google products. Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s), certificate(s), approval(s), etc. and provide documentation to the business office before expiration date of said document(s). Must be able to lift 30 pounds. Required to have a physical presence at the designated job site each scheduled work day. Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the ability to do the job. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support teachers in the implementation of effective core instruction and interventions aligned to the Literacy Essentials. Provide support for Professional Learning Communities through job-embedded, differentiated support and professional learning. Participate in and help in the planning for various network meetings including CLC and Principals' Networks. Coordinate the continuous development, implementation and evaluation of services such as professional development, curriculum development and assessment development to enhance the teaching, learning and assessment of the designated content areas. Assist local districts in the implementation of various school improvement research bases strategies in the designated content area and other related content areas. Develop, maintain, and/or disseminate materials and resources relative to the designated content area. Carry out requirements of the Early Literacy Coaches Grant. Coordinate and facilitate various activities to support the implementation of a multi-tiered system of support in buildings throughout the county. Assist in the coordination and facilitation of the ISD MTSS technical assistance team. Coach ISD and local district staff in the ongoing implementation of MTSS. Coach ISD and local staff in high-quality instruction in the designated content area. Apply knowledge of adult learning theory to provide effective professional learning opportunities for staff. Act as a liaison between state agencies and local districts. Act as a liaison between regional groups working in the designated content area. Provide instructional coaching support Data analysis. Participate with the Instructional Leadership Team. Other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: A 200- day position. Salary and conditions of employment are determined by the Board of Education. Position based upon grant funding.
