Job SummaryUnder general direction of the Medical Director, the Clinical Laboratory Scientist II performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests, which provides the medical staff with essential data and information for the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses, diseases, and other conditions found within the university setting.Department SummaryCampus Health & Wellbeing helps students achieve and maintain academic success and lifelong health and wellbeing by providing timely and appropriate primary and acute health care, disease and injury prevention education, professional mental health care, outreach, educational services and campus consultations.Key QualificationsPerform a variety of moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on blood and other body fluids according to established policies and procedures: Hematology, Microbiology, Urinalysis, Immunology, Chemistry and Molecular Testing.Use of manual and automated systems for data reporting and maintenance of laboratory records.Maintain, calibrate, and operate analyzers and equipment utilizing established procedures following manufacturer's specifications.Receive patients, assuring proper identification and tests ordered.Perform phlebotomy using proper technique and adhering to collection policies and procedures to ensure sample integrity while demonstrating an understanding of universal precautions.Process specimens for testing and delivery to reference laboratories, following acceptance/rejection criteria and proper storage of such specimens until the courier arrivesEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or equivalent from an accredited institution or equivalent post-secondary education, training and experience as defined by the California Division of Laboratory Science.Two years of increasingly responsible and diverse experience as a journey-level Clinical Laboratory Scientist.Licenses, Certificates, Credentials:Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist.Basic life support (or higher) cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillator (CPR/AED) certification for Healthcare Providers (by date of hire).Salary:Anticipated Hiring Range: $37.46 - $55.82 Per HourClassification Range: $24.85 - $90.79 Per HourCal PolyKnown for its Learn by Doing pedagogy, Cal Poly is the flagship of the world-renowned California State University system.
