Position Summary/Description: The Financial Counselor is responsible for managing the financial care of all clinic-based Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/Dental Faculty Practice patients. This role will provide financial counseling to patients presenting to the UNC Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic and review available options available for financing their clinic-based, outpatient surgeries, which will include obtaining prior approval for all procedures with in-network and out-of-network managed care insurance carriers, and Medicaid. This position requires a solid understanding of medical and dental insurance and the complexities associated with reimbursements, prior approvals, and credentialing of faculty. This position will be solely responsible for collecting insurance specific information and communicating the intricacies of patient specific coverages to clients. The Financial Counselor will be required to analyze and communicate out-of-pocket expenses for clinic patients while considering covered benefits, co-insurance costs, and deductibles.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
