Position Title: Clerk IV Job Group: Merit Required Minimum Qualifications: • Any combination of progressively responsible related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to four years of full-time employment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with or knowledge of medical terminology, Occupational Medicine programs and/or medical software such as Occupational Health Manager (OHM)
Experience developing training resources and/or maintaining training records using learning management systems such as, Canvas, or Workday Learning
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office software such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
Experience maintaining databases and records Job Description: Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Clerk IV. EH&S is an employing unit which reports to the General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer at Iowa State University (ISU). The Clerk IV position is a key member of the EH&S team (over 45 fulltime and student employees) that aids the campus community in preventing illness and injury, protects the environment and connects the university to the message of safety and preparedness. EH&S delivers effective education, fosters beneficial partnerships, maintains technical expertise and provides exemplary service.
The Clerk IV will be responsible for providing process management of Iowa State University's Occupational Medicine Program including but not limited to review of reports, medical monitoring, sending out notifications, maintain database records, and collaborating with Occupational Medicine Office at Ames Laboratory.
This position will also provide administrative duties such as greeting guests, answering phone calls, providing support for professional staff, departmental filing, and creating and editing departmental correspondence. This position will serve as building access coordinator, and provide safety training support. 
The successful candidate will possess the ability to pay close attention to detail and ability to prioritize work. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; have ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment; maintain confidentiality; and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Work schedule is Monday - Friday, between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Knowledge of institutional and unit policies, processes, and forms.
• Knowledge of format and clerical procedures to arrange a variety of material from different sources in a coherent and logical manner.
• Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization.
• Skill in utilizing computer software packages and online systems to develop unit-specific applications.
• Skill in operating office equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and the public.
• Ability to make decisions requiring interpretation and judgment.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and interpret institutional and other policies accurately.
• Ability to gather, analyze, and display data in appropriate format and keep accurate records.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
