The Claim Financial Support Specialist is responsible for financial and clerical functions that support the claim department. Duties include reconciliation and research of claim financials, check processing, reporting, vendor management and supporting the claim and finance departments with related tasks.
Reconcile financial entries in the claim system associated with daily, monthly and year end reconciliations related to reserves, claim payments, chargebacks, and recoveries.Oversee the claim CHECK diary and email boxes, processes requests and provides financial support to the department. This includes, stop payments, check research, manual checks and correcting errored payments with re-issues.Serve as the point person for researching and reconciling payment related activities within the claim and vendor financial systems which includes updating and maintaining vendor systems as needed.Accurately input financial data into claim system, including but not limited to manual checks, recoveries and refunds.Assists with 1099 and abandoned property process for the claim department.Partner with internal customers to resolve issues with financial transactions in the claim system.Collaborates with Manager or internal financial contact(s) to investigate claim financial inquiries and discrepancies while providing a high level of customer service.Supports Customer Service Representative I and Customer Service Representative II duties as needed.Contribute to and assist with projects as a subject matter expert as assigned by Manager.Requirements:  A minimum of three years of customer service and/or financial experience is required.Ability to learn multiple computer applications quickly and type with speed and accuracy are critical.Must have a sound understanding of financial procedures, analytical and research skills and have ability to take initiative on projects requiring communication with internal or external customers.Must have the ability to work effectively with other organizational team members as well as the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear, direct, and consistent manner.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail a must.Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks a must.Ability to recognize trends and to problem solve independently.Must work well under pressure, adjust to shifting priorities, and handle multiple tasks.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).Prior experience in Workers' Compensation Claim processing or support is a plus.Our comprehensive benefits package includes all traditional offerings such as: Health Insurance options, Dental Insurance options and Vision InsuranceEmployee Life Insurance/AD&D and Dependent Life Insurance optionsShort-term & Long-term DisabilityHealth Savings Account with potential employer matchFlexible Medical and Dependent Care AccountAccident InsuranceCritical Illness InsuranceEmployee Assistance ProgramLegal/Identify Theft Insurance optionsLong Term Care InsurancePet Insurance401 (k) Retirement Plan with match up to 5%, plus profit sharing & discretionary contributions (subject to vesting)4 weeks of Paid Time Off (PTO)7 paid holidaysWe also offer other benefits to help foster a healthy, balance lifestyle such as: Flextime schedulesPaid Parental LeaveStudent loan paydown and refinancing assistanceEducational assistance for job related courses, seminars, certifications or degreesOne paid day every year to volunteer for your non-profit of choiceOn-site fitness center (Maine & Virginia) or fitness reimbursementSubsidized parkingSit-Stand desks & daily stretch breaksMEMIC is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination and equal opportunity for all employees and qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, genetics, gender identity, veteran's status, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.
