Position: Chief Operating Officer (COO) About Us: Mary Crane Center (MCC) is a vibrant urban non-profit organization dedicated to the healthy and holistic development of young children, preparing them for school readiness through comprehensive enrichment activities. We are committed to our mission and continually strive to refine our organization while positioning ourselves for future growth in a dynamic Early Childhood Development landscape.
Duties & Responsibilities: The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will provide essential support to the CEO/Executive Director in advancing MCC's mission and organizational goals. The COO will take charge of the following key responsibilities:
Successfully manage government funding for non-profits and external agencies, ensuring the development, review, and monitoring of contract goals, as well as compliance with licensing and accreditation requirements. Oversee daily operations and make informed decisions about position openings and closures. Collaborate with the CEO/Executive Director in managing relationships with funders and completing grant management reporting. Work closely with the Finance Director, key staff, and vendors to prepare for required audits. Ensure organization-wide compliance with health and safety laws, audits, federal and state education mandates. Demonstrate a working knowledge of facilities, both owned and leased, including recommendations for repairs, remodeling, and cost-effective improvements. Bonus points for lease negotiation expertise. Supervise professional staff in HR, Program, and Education, ensuring they are suitably qualified and supported in professional development. Plan, direct, control, implement, evaluate, monitor, and forecast budgets and costs in each department to achieve current financial objectives. Collaborate with executives and managers to develop long-range, strategic goals for the organization. Organize, manage, and plan complex projects to achieve organizational goals, development, and implementation efforts.
Job Requirements: Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree required in a related field Master's in Business, Finance, or Early Childhood Education is a plus Qualifications: To excel in this role, the candidate must possess the following qualities and skills:

Mastery of technology, systems, and software applications. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Adaptability to changing environments. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Strong analytical and planning skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information. Language Skills: Proficiency in reading and speaking English is required. Physical Demands: The COO position involves the following physical demands:
Regular talking and listening. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, hand usage, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close-range vision. May require working more than 40 hours per week. Fine hand manipulation, including keyboarding. Transportation time between sites and attendance at trainings, in-services, and home visits. Work Environment: The COO will work in the following environment:
