Charge Integrity Educator

Description
Works with Clinical Information Systems, HR, and Education during the Orientation process. Provides education and training on charge entry during the new hire orientation process for all departments, and positions responsible for capturing revenue in the clinical areas. Serves as a resource to the staff for charge entry questions or concerns. Performs audits every 30 days during the 90-day probation period for new hires to the department leadership, displaying areas of concern, and opportunities for improvement. Educates clinical staff on any changes in charge capture-related activity, due to CPT/ HCPCS coding updates that happen annually, so that staff is aware of what changed, or what is now included in the coding changes that would affect the staff's ability to capture charges correctly. Ensures accurate and timely charge-capture methodologies are in place and followed for the assigned work unit or service line, and that they are consistent (in terms of standardization) across pertinent areas/facilities as appropriate; reconciles charges against source documents to ensure that charges have been captured completely and accurately; monitors compliance with internal standards and procedures, and reports non-compliance issues to proper authority. Participates in coding/ charging audits for charges captured through the facility chargemaster, so that root cause analysis's can be reviewed, along with development of corrective action plans for departments are created, and implemented. Subsequent reviews post-audit are expected, to ensure that implementation of corrective action plans are realized. Evaluate and report on the quality of medical record documentation and alignment with charges. Engages in implementing process improvement initiatives by recognizing revenue enhancement opportunities. Requirements Education Licenses & Certifications Preferred:
