Chaplain - Chaplaincy Services & Pastoral Care St. John's Regional Medical Center We are seeking a compassionate and experience Chaplain to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing spiritual care and support to patients, families, and staff in our healthcare facility. The Chaplain will work closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide emotional and spiritual support to patient and their loved ones. 
Responsibilities Provides pastoral support and counseling to patients/ residents, families, personnel and medical staff, taking special note of patient who are newly admitted, critically ill and those preparing for surgery. Assesses pastoral / sacramental needs of patients, families and personnel and provides follow-up as needed. Makes referrals for sacramental ministry of Catholic patients for Catholic chaplains or Eucharistic ministers. Provides prayer and worship opportunities for patients, hospital personnel, medical staff and local church and civic community. Responds in an appropriate and timely manner to all referrals for chaplain services and provides documentation in both the patient's medical record and departmental records, including assessment, intervention, pastoral plan and evaluation. Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team and medical staff to provide total patient care. Participates in patient care conferences on assigned clinical units as well as other interdisciplinary hospital meetings. Provides spiritual care to the dying. Responds to patient deaths when family are present to provide spiritual and emotional support. Calls OPO at time of death and assists OPO with organ/tissue donation coordination. Assists in obtaining the release of remains. Takes an active role in addressing medical ethical issues with patients, families, medical staff, other health professionals and the local community including Advance Health Care Directives, Patient care conferences to address treatment decisions, Liaison with Ethics Committee, Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services, and Educational Programs.   Collaborates with faith community representatives, including local and all visiting clergy, eucharistic ministers, volunteer chaplains, and seminary students to provide continuity of pastoral care for patients and pastoral / professional growth opportunities. Availability to work various shifts at St. Johns Regional Medical Center and St. Johns Pleasant Valley Hospital. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Some experience working in clinical setting addressing pastoral spiritual and ethical issues as evidence by 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from an Assoc. of Clinical Pastoral Edication (ACPE) accredited.  Bachelor's Degree  in a relevant field (e.g. Divinity Theology Mission Integration Ministry Spiritual Care Pastoral Counseling Bioethics) required.  En route to Board Certified Chaplain certification by National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) or Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC). Ability to work effectively with the sick and dying responding appropriately in crisis situations and effectivly dealing with stress and reilience. Ability to work well with other professionals; excellent interpersonal skills.  Commitment to ones own personal and spiritual growth.  Ecclesial endorsement by one's Church / Denomination / Faith Tradition to provide spiritual care / pastoral care.  Preferred Qualifications: Current certification by National Association of Catholic Chaplains or Association of Professional Chaplains preferred Advanced degree (Masters or above or equivalent) in any of the following: Divinity Theology Mission Integration Ministry Spiritual Care Pastoral Counseling Bioethics (or equivalent) Bilingual - fluent English / Spanish Evidence of bioethical education Benefits of working as a Chaplain in Oxnard, CA:
