Summary As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will provide rapid deployment healthcare support at Medical Special Needs Shelters in Louisiana, in collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Health. You will assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Job Duties: Assists or provides patients with personal hygiene, i.e., bathing, shaving, teeth brushing, nail care, hair combing, and Activities of Daily Living, etc. Provides patients with the appropriate level of assistance with activities of daily living, bathing, dressing, transferring, ambulating, feeding, and toileting. Obtains blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and blood glucose (finger stick) and records them appropriately in the medical record. Weighs patients and records them appropriately in the medical record. Appropriately assists during emergency treatment situations. Maintains positive and constructive professional working relationships with patients, families, medical staff, volunteers, state response assets, and co-workers. Transports patients as assigned off the unit for various diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Assists the team in reinforcing educational needs with patients. Safely move patients using a variety of lifts/transfer devices. Recognizes and reports potential safety hazards. Initiates emergency protocols to protect patients. Maintains patient rooms, equipment, and unit areas in a clean, orderly fashion to maintain a safe environment. Participates in all required training and response management. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Education, Knowledge, and Skills: As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, an active and unrestricted license and/or CNA certification, and BLS and other relevant certifications. Successful completion of a nursing assistant course or the equivalent is required, along with at least one year of emergency response experience.
Must be able to work safely, adhering to all safety rules and regulations. Work collaboratively to enhance safety culture and quality. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods. Must frequently push, pull, reach, and bend. Required to have up-to-date vaccinations. Must be adept at multi-tasking, detail-oriented, organized, and have strong verbal and communication skills. Must possess strong interpersonal skills and work well within a team. Excellent communication and time management skills are essential. Must successfully complete the Credentialing Process. Proficiency in English and additional languages as needed.
