Position Summary: The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care services and preparing patients for examination and treatment.
Primary Responsibilities: Perform routine assisting duties for the Medical Clinic Providers under direct, onsite supervision of an MD or RN as approved by the Medical Director. This will include but not be limited to obtaining vital signs, patient medical history, presenting problem and maintain examination/treatment rooms. Assist with examinations, procedures, and treatment. Help maintain medical records to ensure quality (including patient history, problem lists, vital signs, patient communications, immunizations, and medications) and act as a "scribe" during patient visits as needed. Scrubbing charts for upcoming appointments. This may include review of recent labs, imaging, outside consultation notes, recent hospital records, and/or new medical records. Educate the patient within the scope of practice and directed by supervising provider in health maintenance, disease prevention, and compliance with the patient's treatment plan. Provide the patient with lab results as directed by the supervising provider. Perform procedural and diagnostic coding for reimbursement. Serve as "communication liaison" between the physician and patient by assisting the patient in communicating their needs to the physician. Perform CLIA waved tests and provide results to the provider. Screen patients for symptoms of illness prior to entering the Medical Clinic. Guide patients through care pathways providing patient and staff safety. Support patients with IT when accessing appointments at the Bird Houses via telemedicine. Sterilize surgical instruments and take and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment. Required Qualifications: Current and valid certification as a Certified Medical Assistant.
Minimum one (1) year experience in a medical practice. Understanding of management of medical records including receiving, organizing, prioritizing, storing, and maintaining transmittable information utilizing electronic technology. Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Internet, etc.) and the ability to effectively learn and/or utilize Electronic Health Records. Ability to identify and respond to issues with confidentiality. Working knowledge of HIPAA. Understanding of "Standard Precautions, including hand washing and disposal of biohazardous materials". Willingness to participate in continuing education. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish

Compensation Details: This is an non-exempt hourly position with a target base compensation of $25.00/hour.
