The position of Category Manager - Equipment is responsible for developing and executing a merchandising business plan, inclusive of developing potent product offerings, pricing management, inventory analysis and utilizing promotional marketing tools to maximize profitability under the leadership of the Senior Director of Equipment Sales, Service, and Merchandising.Key Responsibilities:Own a product category of the business and drive strategy to increase market share.Assortment plan from the ground up to identify gaps in the current assortment and over-assorted categories.Work cross functionally with teams including sales, marketing, vendors, pricing, and operations.Using provided reporting tools, form logical conclusions via analysis of the business, identifying decisions that will maximize profitability within the category.Develop the merchandise business plan, including all phases of initial merchandise selection, pricing promotion, and vendor negotiations.Monitor the marketplace for competitive product information, especially pricing, recommending and instituting changes accordingly.Strategize and develop marketing materials and promotions to successfully launch new products.Manage vendor relationships; strategically purchase new products and promote via web and print marketing accordingly.Support the Sales teams by providing timely updates on product developments and information/resources to improve their capabilitiesMinimum Qualifications:Direct work experience in a merchandising/business management capacityProficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPointStrong negotiation and persuasion skillsAbility to analyze data and draw logical conclusionsStrong knowledge of retail math.Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyAbility to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management and other departments.Ability to presentation business analytics and project updates with confidence in a clear, thoughtful mannerAbility to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environmentPreferred Qualifications:Master's Degree in Business Management or relevant discipline2-3 years of experience in a related fieldIntuitive sense for design and merchandisingDirect work experience in a merchandising/business management capacity
