Job Description and Duties This is a 12-month limited term position and may be extended to a maximum of 24-months and/or may become permanent based on operational needs.
The Accounting and Reporting Bureau is recruiting a motivated self-starter looking for a challenging, exciting, and friendly working environment with a variety of work assignments at either an Accountant Trainee level in the Cash Unit. This position is Limited Term with the possibility of becoming permanent. Accountant Trainee:
The Accountant Trainee level will learn to coordinate and perform professional accounting duties related to fund accounting and reporting for CDSS.
Duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining accounting records; preparing all types of accounts and records of financial transactions; and preparing the year-end financial statements. Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the County Expense Claim Reporting Information System (CECRIS) and the Financial Information System for California (Fl$Cal) to meet daily operational needs.

Working Conditions This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer's markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.

In the 'Examinations' section of the STD. 678, you must indicate your appointment eligibility (list, transfer, permissive reinstatement, etc.) and reference the Position number and Job Control (JC) number. A STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS (SOQ) IS REQUIRED. The SOQ must: be in 12 pt. Arial font; have 1" margins; be limited to no more than two (2) single-sided pages; be in narrative form (no bullet points); and detail your interest in the Department of Social Services and how your education and experience qualifies you for the position. Applicants are encouraged to provide unofficial transcripts. Only complete applications that include a SOQ will be reviewed and only the most qualified candidates will be interviewed.
You are required to complete employment history on the application form (STD 678). You may be disqualified from the hiring and selection process if the employment history is not complete. Resumes will not take the place of employment history.

Training and Development assignments may be considered based on the availability of eligible candidates and are subject to approval by the Hiring Authority prior to appointment. Training and Development assignments are temporary in nature and shall not exceed twenty-four (24) months.
Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview, but they must provide proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for an appointment.

Vanpool drivers and riders 100 percent reimbursement on the monthly fee, up to the monthly exclusion amount provided by the IRS.
