Job SummaryThe Career Readiness Advisor for the Orfalea College of Business leads the planning and execution of activities focused on career preparation, networking, and career placement for approximately 150 graduate students. From providing personalized career counseling to fostering alumni connections and managing the Alumni Mentoring program, this role actively contributes to enhancing career opportunities and pathways for Orfalea graduate students. This position reports to the Senior Assistant Dean for Student Success, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and partners with Career Services to ensure the ongoing success of Orfalea's college-wide career readiness initiatives.Department SummaryThe vision for the Orfalea College of Business is to be a transformational leader in experiential business education. Orfalea's mission is to educate career-ready future business leaders in a polytechnic learn-by-doing environment and produce research that positively influences business and society.Key QualificationsAbility to provide comprehensive advisement to students in exploring and setting career goals.Advanced knowledge of career or academic counseling or advising.Ability to interpret, communicate, and apply policies and procedures independently, and use sound judgement and discretion to act when precedents do not exist.Ability to investigate problems, gather and analyze data and present information in a clear and concise manner.Ability to independently provide comprehensive individual and group advisement on complex matters using a thorough knowledge of individual and group behavior principles and counseling techniques.Education and ExperienceEquivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution.
