Professional Rank and Salary Range: SL-4; $62,600 Duration: Calendar Year (this position follows a 12-month schedule) Brief Description of Duties:
SUNY Morrisville is seeking a Career Planning Officer to support our Career Services department. This person will be responsible for creating and implementing strategies to enhance students' career readiness, mindset, and professional development. The Career Services Planning and Development Officer plays a crucial role in guiding and supporting students to empower students to achieve their career goals. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
Conduct one-on-one career counseling sessions with students to assess interests, skills, and career aspirations.
Develop personalized career plans and provide guidance on academic and extracurricular activities to enhance employability and build networks.
Assist students in utilizing artificial intelligence to prepare resume and cover letters, and interview preparation for face-to-face, video sessions, and one-way computer-assisted sessions.
Organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, and events on topics related to career exploration, job search strategies, networking, professionalism, and professional development.
Collaborate with faculty to integrate career readiness and wellbeing initiatives into the academic curriculum.
Establish and maintain relationships with employers, industry professionals, and alumni to facilitate internship and job opportunities for students.
Stay updated on labor market trends, industry requirements, and employment opportunities to provide accurate and relevant information to students.
Manage career services resources, including online platforms (Handshake), databases, and informational materials. Gather data and develop reports and dashboard metrics that track students.
Track and report on student outcomes, including employment rates, graduate school acceptance, and career advancement.
Participate in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in career advising.
Coordinate annual job fairs and promoting alumni in the business community in New York and other states.
Collaborate across campus to support annual Orientation activities, Open House and Accepted Student days, Earth Day activities, and partner with access programs such as ACE, EOP, CSTEP/STEP, and MAP. Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
A Master's degree and significant experience in career counseling and placement.
Proficiency in utilizing career services software, databases, and online platforms.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in career advising practices. Additional Information:
