HIRING SALARY: $40,000.00 annually

Lancaster CI (Trenton, FL) MAJOR FUNCTION: The Career Development Specialist is a grant funded position housed within Department of Corrections. The Career Development Specialist (CDS) positions may cover more than one institution based on workload and proximity. The CDS services will occur through cell-front and/or in congregate settings.
Primary duties will include, but are not limited to:
Facilitation of employability and life skills programs.
Administration and interpretation of assessments.
Delivery of the 100-Hour Transition Skills Education program curriculum.
Delivery of other programs as determined by the Department, such as Thinking for a Change.
Maintaining and providing documentation of services delivered; and
Facilitation of pre-release connections with community providers and employers through face-to-face and technology-based interactions to include pre-release job search, recruitment, and placement activities.
Other duties as assigned to facilitate the successful administration of the 100-Hour Transition Skills Education Program.
MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university and one year of related work experience or a high school diploma and two (2) years of professional experience in the workforce development, social services, corrections or related field; and
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of administrative principles and practices; knowledge of office procedures and practices; knowledge of methods of data collection; knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication; proficient computer skills in Excel and Microsoft Word software; proficient in specking effectively to small groups; ability to work independently with limited supervision; ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to utilize problem-solving techniques; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and complete work assignments with accuracy; ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with others; ability to work in a secured prison setting; ability to work with inmates; ability work within the vicinity of officials that carry guns; and ability to work with users of varying technical expertise.
