This professional should possess and be able to demonstrate the skills necessary to perform all aspects of transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography on all patient populations, as appropriate. This individual should also be competent with any other specialized echocardiography procedures (i.e. stress echocardiography) that are performed at his/her home campus. He/she should be able to maintain accurate records that reflect patient care. This individual should be competent to perform other cardiopulmonary procedures (i.e. EKGs, etc.) and should assist in performing these procedures, as needed. This person will use communication and available resources to promote quality and cost-efficient patient care. MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Ensures that the hospital philosophy and core values are evident in the service delivered to customers. Maintains and demonstrates skills and competencies, to include Age Specific Competency if applicable, and responsibility for seeking and achieving professional growth. Assures compliance with JCAHO, OSHA, infection control, safety and other regulatory standards including privacy and security regulations (HIPAA); is supportive of hospital and departmental objectives, decisions and policies by deed and speech. Completes procedures in an efficient, professional and competent manner. Identifies abnormalities that may immediately impact the patient's health. Notifies physicians of abnormalities and/or completion of procedure, as appropriate. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures; participates in writing, revision, and annual review of policies and procedures. Takes call, as necessary, to assure coverage after hours, on weekends and holidays. Cross-trains on equipment at other campuses and works at those campuses when necessary. Assists in development and monitoring of Departmental Goals and System Improvement (SIG) initiatives. Strives to achieve goals and improvement and encourages other staff to do so as well. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Alters work schedule, as needed, to meet the needs of patients and/or physicians. MUST HAVES: Education/Skills A.D., or higher, in Respiratory Therapy, Cardiopulmonary Science, or other related field. Experience Minimum of 2 years hands-on training and has attended at least one formal training seminar (i.e. Owen Brown) for echocardiography.
