Responsibilities
• Answers incoming calls and initiates outbound calling for the assigned department• Provides tele-health services including appointment scheduling and educational classes• Refers callers to appropriate physician, department, or program• Identifies urgent calls and directs to urgent/emergent care• Utilizes computerized database to assist in arranging resources• Collects and verifies demographic and insurance data• Explains and obtains necessary consent forms• Provides financial counseling to assist with payment sources• Completes charge entry, reviews patient accounts, and ensures accurate billing• Maintains contacts with DMC representatives and physicians• Generates marketing reports and maintains database records• Participates in continuous quality improvements and community health initiatives
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent• Two to five years of college level course work or related experience preferred• Two years of experience with direct patient and/or physician contact• Two to five progressive years of work experience in insurance, medical record, billing or related area preferred• Bilingual (Arabic/Spanish) fluently with medical terminology a plus
