Position Summary 5 years of aerospace purchasing and supplier management experience required. The buyer is responsible for placing purchase orders, managing suppliers, providing shop support and inventory control.
Essential Functions Place purchase orders for outside services and materials. Supplier management, including delivery commitments, shipment issues, and compliance to customer specifications. Coordinate product transfer to and from suppliers. Cross-trained in various areas of the Supply Chain business unit. MRP planning and inventory control. Maintain appropriate tact and diplomacy in dealings with co-workers, team members and managers. Evaluate suppliers by considering price, quality, availability and other criteria Interview vendors and visiting suppliers' facilities to learn about products, services and pricing. Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best value on behalf of the company. Authorize payments and maintain receipts, records and inventories. Some travel may be expected. Competencies MRP production planning Negotiation skills Analytical skills Judgment and decision-making skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Interpersonal skills Proficient with MRP and Microsoft Office Experience and Education 5 years aerospace purchasing and supplier management experience required. Experience with on-site supplier expediting a strong plus. Four year degree in a business-related field preferred. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
