Position Summary: Flexible work arrangements, including virtual/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. As such, this position's work location is designated as hybrid. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit's business needs
The Departmental Research Administrator will be an integral part of the FBO Service Center by independently supervising assigned departments with account management and monitoring, and compliance with government accounting methods, procedures, and practices. The position involves establishing productive collaborative work relationships and assessing and responding to the assigned department's needs. The position will apply research administration policy and practices, and specifically, the position will supervise departments with grant administration and management and financial and data management. The Departmental Research Administrator will also work as the lead on clinical trial budget negotiations as well as monitoring of awarded clinical trials. Finally, the position will partner the Business Officer and Director, Shared Services with any additional ad hoc reporting or special projects. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Mid-career with Masters and 1-2 yrs experience; or Bachelors and 2-4 yrs experience
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience: Ability to monitor and manage financial accounts for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and laws. Ability to manage reporting of complex financial areas or programs, including preparation of financial statements and reports. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Excellent organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience: Experience with grants and contracts. Thorough knowledge of government accounting methods, procedures, and accounting practices. Experience in a university and/or medical setting is preferred. Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification preferred. Knowledge of NIH, NSF, DOD, and other awarding agency regulations and requirements.The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting or an Associate's degree in Business Administration or Accounting and the requisite years of related experience. Experience in University accounting and financial systems is preferred
