Business Intelligence Analyst Job Responsibilities
Business Intelligence Analyst responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Stakeholder Communications & Relationship Building:
o Coordinate with business units to define reporting requirements, issues, needs, and deadlines
o Communicate reporting needs to the BI Development team
o Act as a liaison between business units, analysts, and developers
o Maintain positive relationships
Reporting Assistance:
o Assist business units with writing SQL queries and creating reports in Power BI
o Handle reporting needs accurately and efficiently
o Share best practices with business units and perform reporting audits
Maintain Team Documentation:
o Collect and store reporting information related to requests from business units
o Assist with the creation of training materials for business units
o Maintain internal team standards for projects and reports
Business Intelligence Analyst Job Requirements
Education & Experience:
o Four-year degree in related field or equivalent work experience
o At least 2 years of relevant job experience
Technical Skills & Experience:
o Experience with BI software, preferably Power BI
o Experience writing SQL
Professional Skills:
o Ability to take leadership of multiple tasks and accommodate frequent interruptions and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
o Strong attention to detail
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills
o Strong desire to collaborate with internal team members and other departments throughout the company
Preferred Experience (not required)
Professional Experience:
o Experience in working with enterprise Business Intelligence teams
Technical Skills:
o Familiarity with statistical analysis and research methodologies
o Advanced proficiency in Excel
o Advanced proficiency with DAX
o Advanced SQL
o Familiarity with the following tools: Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, etc.), Azure DevOps, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
Data Experience:
o Comfortability working with large amounts of e-commerce data
o Data validation, data warehouse QA, and/or report auditing experience
o Familiarity with Kimball methodology
Project Management Experience:
o Tracks project benchmarks and milestones
o Keeps relevant stakeholders up to date on project status (includes BI Analysts, BI Developers, business stakeholders)
o Ensures project requirements are thorough, accurate, and up to date
