Budget and Financial Analyst Location Washington, DC (Adams Morgan area) : Who We Are: Moishe ( pronounced moy-shuh) House is what being Jewish in your 20s is all about. Reporting to the Global Controller and serving as a key member of the finance team, the Budget & Financial Analyst oversees budget management and provides operational support and financial expertise to budget owners in support of their efforts to achieve their departmental and organizational goals. Beyond this, this individual will partner cross-functionally to design and operate a financial reporting and analysis infrastructure that illuminates our business, with primary responsibility for writing and communicating reports that reveal business drivers and inform business decisions.

What You'll Do: You believe in our mission and are excited about contributing to the financial stability and growth of our global nonprofit organization. In support of the budget and reporting , you will: Generate and interpret finance reports and advise budget owners regarding the financial status of programs, projects, and funds. Ensure the financial integrity of budgets by monitoring balances and expenditures. Monitor actual performance against the financial plan, researching discrepancies and advising budget owners of potential issues. Develop, generate, and review with senior management financial reports and other key insights affecting their operations. Guide and support budget owners through the annual planning process and monthly forecasting. Develop standardized processes and schedule for developing annual budgets. Develop restated annual projections quarterly, based on actual results. Identify opportunities for efficient use of funds. Gain a thorough understanding of the intricacies of programs and their funding sources in order to maximize budget performance. Provide support to the Global Controller for financial metrics as needed for board, finance committee and executive team presentations. Collect, organize, and analyze financial and other statistical data to generate financial and non-financial reports that generate meaningful and actionable insights. In support of grants management , you will collaborate with the DevOps team to: Develop tools and processes to administer and monitor donor-funded activities. Provide budget owners with donor-funded financial project management, and monitor the financial progress of donor funds. Provide support to the Development function in developing grant budget proposals and generating donor financial stewardship reports. You'll develop and maintain training manuals and FAQ documentation to support the Finance team and internal Moishe House stakeholders. Who You Are: You have a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting . You have a minimum of 5 years full-time post-undergraduate professional experience in Finance, Accounting, Budgeting, FP&A , or a related and relevant field. You have significant experience working with a nonprofit organization. You bring intermediate-level proficiency with MS Office , along with hands-on experience in enterprise-wide financial applications . You have intermediate knowledge of financial and budget analyses and financial modeling, and advanced ability to conduct financial analyses and evaluations of program operations and outcomes . You have a systems-mindset and are comfortable with large data sets and software systems, and comfortable innovating within systems as a self-starter. You're a strong cross-functional collaborator, able to partner and work cooperatively with all levels of management and across all departments to gather and exchange information and evaluate strategic organization performance and program results. You're a skilled communicator, able to effectively prepare and present data, discuss reports, and make recommendations to a diverse range of people. You're an experienced organizational and project manager, able to coordinate and manage multiple projects, develop scopes of work and project plans, and monitor progress relating to the budgeting process. Experience with BPM systems and report-writer or other database reporting applications Experience with Sage Intaact, a plus. Experience with PowerBI, a plus. Experienced with analyzing financial reports and various data to identify trends and issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for non-profit organizations . The Fine Print: This is a full-time position, requires weekday hours, with occasional weekend and evening hours to complete job requirements. This position reports to the Global Controller.
This position can be based in one of our Hub Offices (Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Encinitas, CA; Washington, D.C.; or NYC). Our team works a hybrid schedule at our Hub Offices, where employees can choose to work remotely 2 days per week and collaborate in-person with coworkers the rest of the week.
Moishe House requires "full vaccination" for all staff to travel, work in offices, and participate in any Moishe House group gatherings. We use the CDC's definition of "full vaccination" as the standard, with variations based on country as needed.

The starting salary range for this full-time exempt position is: Charlotte, NC: $78,000 - $82,000 Encinitas, CA or Chicago, IL: $85,000 - $90,000 NYC or D.C.: $90,000 - $95,000 If your salary expectations are different and/or you have more experience than what is required, let's talk!
