Braille Specialist

Fulfill requests for tactile maps and graphs as needed.
Manage inventory and procurement of necessary supplies for daily operations.
Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet students material requirements promptly.
Demonstrate proficiency in English language conventions including spelling grammar and punctuation.
Maintain meticulous records of transcriptions and appropriately label electronic files for future reference.
Curate a repository of resources for locating alternative formats of materials such as braille large print or electronic versions.
Collaborate with the Teacher of Students with Vision Impairments (TSVI) to adapt materials as necessary for students.
Stay abreast of advancements in computer technology relevant to braille production and assistive technology for students.
Transcribe a variety of materials including textbooks workbooks assessments and assignments into accessible formats like braille large print and electronic versions tailored for students with visual impairments.
Requirements Washington State License and Certification for the Braillist position.
Fingerprints on file with OSPI (Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction) prior to starting.
