Collectively, the team contributes to the three key service areas - Toxicology, Pharmacology and Analytical Chemistry.Job DescriptionTo conduct and assist in the post in-life procedures in our vivarium.Perform necropsies and C-sections in accordance with Protocols and standard operating procedures.Collect blood, urine, fecal and tissue specimens in accordance with Protocols and standard operating procedures.Prepare all materials needed for necropsies.As needed, prepare tissue specimens for histology.Hold scheduling meetings pertaining to terminal procedures for each large scope project.Schedule the delivery of samples collected from animals to labs within and outside of PSL, which may include the packaging of samples.Collaborate with the toxicology team on various tasks and assignments.Efficiently carry out procedures necessary to complete each project with minimal supervision.Meticulously maintain precise records in accordance with good laboratory practices.Assist in writing of reports.Follow all PSL safety requirements.Ability to safely wear a respirator required.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsB.S. degree or equivalent experience in laboratory animal medicine, toxicology, animal science, or biology is preferred.The individual holding this position must be of highest integrity and have a very strong sense of responsibility and be willing and able to work with little or no supervision. He/she must be mature, willing to learn new skills, well organized, capable of adapting to a broad spectrum of responsibilities and able to maintain meticulous and accurate records. Humane treatment of all animals and adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) is of utmost importance.Additional InformationPosition is full-time, Monday - Friday, first shift, weekends and holidays as needed.
