Job Summary:
The benefits specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Ensure accuracy of benefits enrollments in HRIS for vendor eligibility.
Perform audits and quality checks of benefits-related data.
Assist employees with benefits claim issues and plan changes.
Distribute benefits enrollment materials and verify eligibility using Workday and ensure accurate and timely processing of life status changes.
Respond to benefits inquiries from managers and employees regarding plan provisions, enrollments, status changes, and general inquiries.
Process and administer all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork (medical, personal, disability, and FMLA) while demonstrating kindness and empathy.
Effectively interpret FMLA and ADA implications for leaves of
absences/disabilities.
Respond to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees regarding enrollments, plan changes, and contribution amounts; manage annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
Assist with benefits renewals and the open enrollment process.
Aid in updating plans in Workday for Open Enrollment.
Utilize Workday to manage Evidence of Insurability, enrollment windows, and leaves of absences.
Process workers' compensation claims and collaborate with the insurance carrier to ensure coverage for new entities; assist with renewals.
Provide necessary reports for allocation/billing charges, ensuring timely payment, and collaborate with the carrier to resolve billing issues; reconcile discrepancies related to EDI feeds.
Assist with new-hire orientations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience:
Required:
Associate's degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other
training/certification
may be substituted for education.
Two years' experience in HR and/or benefits administration.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field of study.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
