Responsibilities Ascension Saint Agnes is looking for a Bariatric Registered Dietitian to work with our bariatric team of surgeons, nurses, and mental health professionals.
Responsibilities: Assesses nutritional and health status of bariatric surgery patients, pre- and post-surgery. Develops customized nutrition care plans that support weight loss goals and optimal health. Collaborates with bariatric program team including surgeons, nurses, and mental health professionals to ensure coordination throughout the continuum of care. Develops patient education materials and classes. Provides education to patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers. Provides individual and group nutrition counseling to bariatric surgery patients. Faciliatates support groups. Monitors effectiveness of nutritional regimen, provides medical nutrition therapy, and evaluates effectiveness of treatments. Participates in marketing and community education activities to promote the Bariatric Program. Requirements Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Dietitian/Nutritionist credentialed from the Maryland Board of Dietetic Practice obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Educator specializing in Diabetes Management credentialed from the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) preferred. Education:
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. Additional Preferences Additional Requirements:
Bachelors degree in food and nutrition, dietetics or related field
Registration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Commission on Dietetics Registration
Current licensure in the state of Maryland as a Dietition/Nutritionist
Prior completion of a specialty fellowship program or active specialty certification: CNSC, CDCES, CSR, CSP, CSO, IBCLC
Maintenance of 30 CEUs/2 years (20 CEU in a specialty area every two years)
Preferences:
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred
Experience with bariatric patients preferred but willing to train the right candidate
