The prime candidate will work seamlessly with both senior partners as well as administrative staff in an effort to effectively serve our clients. If you have excellent research and writing skills, can easily use today's technology, and communicate effectively across all levels, we would love to connect!Responsibilities:Counsel clients by assessing options and determining the best course of action for a successful outcomeIdentify client conflicts and determine case strategies with options for resolutionWork closely with and provide leadership to administrative staff concerning client billing, client meetings and invoicing, as well as finalizing client projectsArgue motions in court on behalf of clients during legal proceedingsPrepare various legal documents, such as motions, pleadings, briefs, and correspondenceAppear in court on behalf of clients and argue motions during legal proceedingsComplete legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, and briefsOversee paralegals, law clerks, and administrative staffPrepare various legal documents, such as motions, pleadings, briefs, and correspondenceTake responsibility for administrative staff relating to client invoicing/billing records, setting up meetings with clients, and completing tasksCourt territory would include, but not be limited to, New Britain, Hartford, Rockville and Manchester.Qualifications:Required Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school; representation of clients for at least 2 years a plusStrong knowledge of legal research programs such as Westlaw and Lexis products is requiredDecision-making, public speaking, problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and communication skills are a mustAble to work independently while handling multiple filesAbility to use Microsoft Office is requiredAdvanced computer skills working with legal research programs (Westlaw and Lexis) requiredSuccessful completion of accredited law school with Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree with 2 years of related experienceMust be able to handle heavy caseload with little supervisionPublic speaking, decision-making, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are necessary for this roleMinimum 1-2 years experience working in a law firm environmentMust be an active Bar member, in good standing with no pending or prior disciplinary historyApplicants should be motivated self-starters, who are able to work independently and communicate effectively with clients and the teamMust have a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environmentPossess a demonstrated history of excellence in their career, as well as a passion for serving criminal defense clientsStrong written, verbal, and public speaking communication skillsComfortable in an all-Mac environmentExcellent analytical abilitiesGood organizational, time management, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work well independently but more importantly as part of a teamAbility to exercise flexibility, initiative, good judgment, and discretionAbout Company:We are a mid-sized law firm headquartered in Shelton, CT with offices and attorneys throughout Connecticut.
