Organization Overview:
The Lilly Genetic Medicine (LGM) team is looking for talented and motivated scientists to join our Innovation Hub in Cambridge, MA before moving to the Seaport District in Boston starting Aug, 2024. We pursue cutting-edge research in a highly interdisciplinary environment to enable the next generation of nucleic acid innovation. These technologies will expand the impact of our existing pipeline in small-interfering RNAs (siRNA) and our emerging pipeline in additional nucleic acid modalities. We work in collaboration with colleagues across Lilly Genetic Medicine and therapeutic areas (e.g., Neuroscience).



Responsibilities: As a delivery scientist, you will be responsible for developing nucleic acid-based formulations across various scales and for characterization using both routine and advanced analytical methods. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of experiments, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues, to reach desired goals. Other main responsibilities include:
Support formulation efforts for delivery of nucleic acids, including optimization and characterization to provide high quality, well-characterized drug products for in vitro and in vivo evaluation
Conduct experiments, independently and in collaboration with colleagues to support projects
Optimize existing formulation methods and processes and generate standard operating procedures (SOPs) and test method documents
Communicate research and development findings with internal and external partners
Operate instruments and assist in maintaining general laboratory functionality, including lab equipment maintenance and the ordering, and receiving of lab supplies
Basic Requirements: Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field
1+ years of laboratory work experience in formulation science, nanomedicine, and/or in vitro/ in vivo evaluation of nucleic acid formulation. Experience working with nanomedicine is not required but is strongly preferred.
Additional Skills/Preferences: The candidate will have attention to details, exceptional time management, effective communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams. Other desired skills include:
Experience with analytical techniques relevant for characterizing nanoparticles (particle size, RNA encapsulation efficiency, etc.)
Preferably has one year of experience with novel drug delivery systems including lipid nanoparticles
Experience with preparation of nanoparticle-based formulations preferably at different scales sufficient to support in vitro and in vivo studies (rodents)
Preferably has strong research background in nucleic acid formulation / characterization and / or wet lab biology techniques.
Preferably has high-throughput screen experience
