Job Summary: The Associate Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Faculty Development works with the office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness and the Center for Teaching and Learning. This position ensures that university programs and offices engage in data-informed institutional effectiveness (assessment & planning) activities that meet institutional and accreditation requirements; and provides instructional design support to faculty to facilitate instructional design that is equitable and inclusive, student-centered, outcomes-based, and can be assessed for continuous improvement.
Duties/Responsibilities: Oversee the assessment efforts on campus, ensuring that all programs and offices have an assessment plan and are gathering and analyzing assessment data on an annual basis.  Provide assessment support on best-practices in assessment to faculty and staff through individual consultation and group work sessions. Provide evidence-based instructional design support to faculty on the use of instructional technologies, pedagogical strategies, various curriculum delivery methods, and learning principles through individual consultation and collaborative workshop opportunities. Incorporates data literacy training into assessment and instructional design support to ensure assessment and instructional design efforts are data-informed Assist programs and offices in developing data collection and management processes that are defined, documented, and clearly understood by stakeholders (e.g., department chairs, teaching faculty, students, etc.), promoting standardized data collection and management procedures wherever possible to streamline efforts and increase efficiency. Assist faculty with learning and applying principles of engagement, inclusive pedagogy, and universal design for learning, to create course materials and activities which meet learning objectives and motivate students to learn. Assist and collaborate with others in the Center for Teaching and Learning in planning and delivering faculty pedagogical training, especially with regard to instructional design and assessment matters that create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning environment. Develop and maintain instructional and assessment resources. Performs other duties as assigned within the Center for Teaching and Learning, and Institutional Research & Effectiveness. Required Skills/Abilities:  Ability to interpret and analyze information for effective decision making. Ability to organize  Attention to detail for accurately preparing and maintaining accurate records, correspondence, administer test, and coordinate information. Ability to demonstrate excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to deal effectively with a variety of situations and constituents. Ability to take initiative, set goals, prioritize and organize job tasks and workload in order to meet deadlines, ability to complete work in a timely manner and communicate progress routinely. Demonstrated ability to think strategically, critically, and creatively. Knowledge and application of current professional development approaches and experiential and equity-focused teaching practices. Ability to facilitate one-on-one meetings and workshops for a broad range of instructors. Ability to work with university faculty on equitable teaching and learning approaches, particularly around the development, implementation, and assessment of experiential and inclusive pedagogy related to student engagement and learning. Familiarity with learning management systems and spreadsheets Demonstrated ability to learn new software. Ability to use a PC and software such as, Microsoft Office and Google. Ability to operate commonly used office equipment such as a copy machine, fax, phone, etc. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with a wide variety of constituents. Ability to build relationships that balance the multiple, varying, and sometimes conflicting interest of diverse stakeholders. Ability to maintain confidential information and materials. Demonstrated commitment to high standards of customer service. Ability to work hours outside of the normal work schedule, such as evenings and weekends.  
Education and Experience: Master's degree in education, educational psychology, curriculum design, or related field, and a minimum of 3 years of experience teaching at the university level and applying adult learning theory, inclusive teaching and understanding by design. Also experience leading or participating in higher education student learning or program assessment.
"Quality Matters" or similar training or certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee must occasionally travel to meetings and conferences off campus, which may include some overnight travel.
