AES Clean Energy is currently seeking an Associate Developer to assist with project development efforts as a member of AES Clean Energy's Development team. The team is tasked with the development of solar, solar + storage, and stand-alone storage projects. The successful candidate will assist with project development for project located in ERCOT and SPP. Key activities include identifying optimal locations for solar and standalone storage projects, land acquisition, project permitting, coordinating site studies and diligence, managing the interconnection process, handling project development budgets, due diligence and assistance with project acquisitions and ensuring projects successfully reach construction commencement.
This position will reside within AES Clean Energy's project development group and will work in close collaboration with AES Clean Energy's new products team. The position can be remote based or utilization of AES Clean Energy's various office locations including Louisville, CO; Salt Lake City, UT; Houston, TX; Arlington, VA. The role requires the ability to work on multiple tasks and projects and requires travel as needed. The successful candidate will work on a cross-functional team with land origination, project development, permitting, community relations, legal, finance, engineering, interconnection, construction, and outside consultants, landowners, customers, and other project stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Support management activities for early stage solar and solar + storage energy projects in ERCOT and SPP
Coordinate with the internal Land, Permitting, Real Estate, Engineering and Interconnection teams as well as outside consultants on an as-needed basis to ensure that projects are meeting development milestones, development risks are being mitigated, and project returns are maximized
Initiate and/or support relationships with local jurisdictions to ensure projects are obtaining all possible incentives and have good standing within the local communities
Development asset database with core project inputs, including risk register and status updates
Assist in processing of required paperwork (Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Task Orders and Invoices) to engage consultants and sub-consultants on project related work
Conduct financial modeling and analysis of prospective development projects, as well as maintain current models for the development pipeline
Assist in acquisition of development assets and/or platforms on an as needed basis
Support the Land, Permitting and Interconnection teams on an as needed basis with research, analysis and in-person meetings or phone calls
Support the Power Marketing team on an as needed basis for RFP responses and other off-taker outreach
Research emerging renewable energy markets and identify new development prospects
25% travel might be required!
Desired Skills and Expertise:
Outstanding organizational, communication, project management decision making/problem solving, analytical and time management skills.
1-2 years' experience administering energy projects and/or project financing of renewable energy projects
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience in project management and finance software such as SAP, ProCore, and/or QuickBase preferred
Able to demonstrate experience dealing successfully with peers, subordinates, management, and unaffiliated third parties
Exceptional presentation and communication skills
Passion for renewable energy industry
BA/BS degree required with concentration in business, finance, economics, engineering, environmental sciences and/or other quantitative/environmental fields

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $85,000 and $106,250/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus,
in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment.
