Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as anAssistantVice President, Actuary!About the roleIn this role, you will lead the reporting function of the Finance Actuarial team. The Assistant Vice President, Actuary supports the Appointed Actuary in overseeing critical financial functions that deliver high quality insights to senior management, regulators, rating agencies and other key stakeholders. This leader will coordinate and partner with team members and leaders from across the Company to accomplish objectives and share insights. They will champion efforts to improve processes, leveraging new tools and technology. They will actively nurture the development of team members, reinforcing our core values and growing the next cohort of leaders.What you will doDrive the planning and execution for reporting associated with cash flow testing, European Embedded Value, actuarial components of US statutory statements and other cross functional reporting needs.Present insights from reporting efforts to leadership, including at the executive level.Stay up to date on relevant regulatory developments, educating partners and being responsible for the integration of updates into existing processes.Own the identification of process inefficiencies, development of associated solutions, and strategy for prioritizing and implementing the solutions.Directly manage team members and impact broader employee development efforts.This includes, but is not limited to:Aligning employee's development goals with team and business goals and initiativesFacilitating team engagement and collaboration with various other teamsCreating and reinforcing a policy of continuous improvement and an encouraging work environmentResource planning and technical/leadership talent assessmentHiring and onboarding new team membersWhy work at SymetraHere's what some of our employees have to say about why they work at Symetra:"We're big enough to make an impact on the country, but small enough to care and know who you are and what you're contributing to the organization.
