A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ASSISTANT SCHOOL TEACHER In this childcare position, you help our lead teachers to make a difference in the day-to-day life of children. You are vital in keeping the ideal child-staff ratio so that each child receives the correct level of care. Alongside other teachers, you greet each kid and their parents as they arrive. You help to maintain an open line of communication with parents, so you work with other teachers to keep a daily report for each child. When the children arrive, you check their belongings to ensure they are labeled with their first and last names. You assist in taking attendance daily. If parents have any questions about medications for their child, you send them to the front desk to put them on file.
You refer to the daily classroom schedule as a guideline for the curriculum, meals, snacks, and outside playtime. Additionally, you help request supplies needed for the class, keep decorations in the classroom up to date, and display children's work at their eye level. You help to keep all areas of the classroom clean and sanitized. When necessary, you follow our discipline policy, reporting and documenting any unusual staff behavior to management. You get great satisfaction from helping kids to learn each day!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ASSISTANT SCHOOL TEACHER Experience at a licensed preschool center 18+ years of age High school diploma or equivalent Reliable transportation Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Certification in CPR and first aid OR a willingness to become certified Are you self-motivated and goal-oriented? Do you work well with people? Are you patient and understanding?
