Assistant Professor without tenure (WOT) - Academic Foot & Ankle Surgeon - Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine School / Campus / College: School of Medicine Organization: Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Title: Assistant Professor without tenure (WOT) - Academic Foot & Ankle Surgeon - Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Position The Department of Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine at the University of Washington has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Assistant Professor to specialize in foot and ankle surgery. This position will be based at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level (without tenure due to funding). The majority of School of Medicine faculty hired in the professorial track are hired under the WOT designation. Faculty appointed WOT have the same rights, responsibilities, and obligations as tenure-track and tenured faculty members at those ranks. However, faculty appointed as WOT do not hold tenure because all or part of their annual University- administered salary is derived from sources other than regularly appropriated state funds.
The practice offers opportunities for the cultivation of a broad and busy practice in elective and traumatic foot and ankle surgery as part of the internationally renowned Sigvard T. Hansen, Jr., MD, Foot and Ankle Institute at Harborview Medical Center - the only Level One trauma center for a five-state region. Responsibilities will include resident and fellow education and medical student teaching. Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to develop a robust program in clinical, education methodologies or basic science research. Salary
The base salary range for this position will be: $18,334 - $20,000 per month ($220,008 - $240,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other Compensation
Other compensation associated with this position will include Monthly Additional Compensation (MAC) and Semi-Annual Additional Compensation (SAAC) through the UW Physicians practice plan.
This position has a flexible start date in fall of 2024. Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11-months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Physicians Practice Plan
