Francis Marion University and the Department of Physics and Engineering inviteapplications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Mechanical Engineering. The department has fourteen faculty members and ishome to undergraduate degree programs in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, engineering technology, computational physics, andhealth physics. The department benefits from close ties with local and regional industry. The Industrial Engineering program is accreditedby the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The Mechanical Engineering program is currently undergoing initial review by theEngineering Accreditation Commission of ABET with a result expected in Fall 2024.
The department faculty are dedicatedteacher-scholars committed to outstanding teaching, excellent scholarship, and the achievement of underrepresented student groups in physicsand engineering. Responsibilitiesinclude: Teaching 3 to 4 undergraduate courses and labs per semester. Courses and labs will primarily be taught inboth introductory and upper-level engineering but may also include introductory physics laboratory instruction as loads and demandwarrants. Conducting impactful research, especially research involving undergraduate students. Engagement indiscipline-related service to the community, department, and/or university.
