The College of Fine Arts is one of thirteen college-level academic units at Ohio University and is itself composed of six schools: the School of Art + Design, the School of Music, the School of Film, the School of Interdisciplinary Arts, the School of Dance, and the School of Theater. With approximately 130 faculty and staff, the College of Fine Arts serves roughly 1000 students. The College values collaboration across academic units, high-quality creative experiences, community involvement, and close mentoring of students. With exciting festivals, an arthouse cinema, museums, and a professional theater company, the College of Fine Arts deepens the quality of life at Ohio University, in the Athens community, and for all of southeast Ohio. The School of Dance offers a professional training program with a BFA degree in Performance and Choreography, a liberal arts BA in Dance, as well as an MA degree in Community Dance. The Master of Arts Administration ( MAA ) is also housed in the School of Dance. There are approximately 60 students and 5 full-time faculty and staff.

Job Description
We seek a teaching artist/educator who will work with the current faculty and embrace our mission of celebrating diversity, building community, and encouraging critical dialogue through practice and performance to prepare students to be dance artists and innovators for the 21stcentury. As we answer the need for performing arts that reflect this moment and carry us into the future, we encourage Black, Indigenous, and artists of color to apply.
The successful candidate will teach studio courses in dance composition, contemporary dance techniques, dance pedagogy, and depending on the area(s) of expertise, a lecture course on global dance forms. We seek a creative artist and collaborator, but general preference will be given to candidates whose studio practice includes a focus area in world dance and/or dances of the African diaspora. We also welcome other areas of expertise, including community dance practices, inclusive dance, movement analysis, jazz, ballet, and musical theater. Additional duties include choreographing for the mainstage faculty concert, coordinating visiting artist residencies, advising, recruiting new students, and supervising student capstone projects.
Summer teaching or administrative opportunities are available, including College of Fine Arts Summer Programs, such as the Summer Dance Institute and/or the Musical Theater summer program.
In addition to teaching, responsibilities include: Serving as a mentor and advisor to students
Collaboration with faculty and guest artists
Recruiting on the local, regional, and national level
Serving on School, College and University committees
Planning with on-campus student resource offices and allied communities to maximize a safe and respectful learning environment
Determining, selecting, and organizing facilities, equipment, and materials necessary for learning
Preparation of course syllabi, in-class activities, exams, class handouts, online materials, audiovisual materials, etc., as appropriate, desired, and necessary

Details: . Minimum Qualifications: Graduate degree in performance or choreography, or undergraduate degree and extensive professional experience working in the field of dance.
Experience teaching in higher education.
Demonstrated ability to choreograph for a variety of productions.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of contemporary pedagogical practices and ability to teach across disciplines and collaborate in interdisciplinary contexts.
Willingness to join a community that's committed to naming white supremacy culture and that endeavors to dismantle it.
Effective collaborative, organizational, and interpersonal skills with students, faculty, and staff
Experience recruiting and building relationships with schools and communities.
